Think College Standards for Inclusive Postsecondary Education
The Think College standards-based conceptual framework for inclusive higher education depicts four standards as cornerstones of practice: Academic Access, Career Development, Campus Membership and Self-Determination. These standards and associated quality indicators and benchmarks comprise what experts in the field have indicated are essential elements of quality practice.
Another four standards - Integration with College Systems and Practices, Coordination and Collaboration, Sustainability, and Ongoing Evaluation - represent the interdependent elements of service, or programmatic infrastrucure necessary for the four cornerstones of practice to occur, be sustained over time, and result in desired outcomes.
Together, these eight key elements represent a cohesive framework that supports the tenets of the Higher Education Opportunity Act while simultaneously acknowledging the individualized services that may be required by students with ID in postsecondary education.
