Higher education is the new frontier for the inclusion of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This webinar will focus on the ways in which four faith-based colleges and universities are supporting the participation and belonging of students with IDD in college life. Learn what inclusion looks like on their campuses, how this work intersects with their faith commitments, the impact it is having on their community, and what they have learned about launching and maintaining such a program.

In this session we will discuss some of the challenges faced by college students with intellectual disabilities, their coaches and faculty and how a comprehensive training series developed with educational coaches and staff has been utilized to facilitate a smooth transition to college.

In this session, we will discuss supported education models and highlight the benefits of providing educational support to students. We will also delineate specific roles and responsibilities that support staff fulfill, including offering encouragement, providing academic assistance, giving corrective feedback, and prompting organizational skill-building and social-skill awareness.

This webinar, sponsored by NTACT, will feature Michael Stoehr (NTACT), Linda O’Neal (San Diego State University), and Charlie Walters (University of South Carolina) who will discuss effective practice strategies and supports for youth with Complex Support Needs as they transition to successful post-secondary outcomes of education/training, employment, and community engagement.

This webinar will highlight education interventions that engage students, families, and professionals and promote the seamless transition from school to work. Attendees will learn about models that engage students in career and work experiences that lead to competitive, integrated employment. Think College will share strategies and lessons learned on inclusive postsecondary options that prepare youth with disabilities for careers. CaPROMISE will showcase its secondary education intervention and the impact of the intervention on education outcomes for youth receiving SSI.
