Policy Affinity Group Meeting

Combined Affinity Group Meeting: VR, Policy & Student Credentials

Please join us on August 7th at 2:00pm EST for a joint meeting of three of the Think College affinity groups to explore the intersection of public policy, vocational rehabilitation, and student credentials offered by higher education programs for students with intellectual disabilities.

This is the first in a series of three cross-affinity group meetings bringing together professionals, researchers, advocates, policymakers and educators to discuss current policy, legislation, and VR partnership around student credentials across programs.

Public Policy Affinity Group meeting

This affinity group is a platform for open discussion related to policy and legislation affecting inclusive higher education at the state and federal levels. Anyone interested in educating state and federal policy makers about the importance of inclusive higher education.

At the January meeting we will discuss the new Congress, your new State legislative sessions, the Higher Ed Act, what to anticipate in the coming year, and some new material we have developed.

Public Policy Affinity Group meeting

The federal Higher Education Opportunity Act is up for reauthorization this year in Washington. Different versions are being considered by the House and Senate. What does that mean for TPSIDs created under the law and others that have inclusive higher education programs for students with intellectual disabilities? What can you do? Who should you be talking to about your programs? What are you hearing in the field about HEOA?
