The story of inclusive post secondary education in Alberta, final research report 2004-2005

This report seeks to provide a comprehensive overview and critical analysis of inclusive post-secondary education across all Alberta initiatives. As a result of twenty years of experience supporting the inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities in colleges and universities, a substantial number of students, peers, faculty, facilitators, families and employers can describe and explain the value of inclusive post-secondary education. This study collected information about students' employment, living arrangements, social life and other contributions to the community. The study examined the impact of attending colleges and universities, as well the critical factors influencing the experiences of students, families, faculty and employers in Canadian communities. This qualitative study used a participatory action research design, and research findings address employment as well as social emotional and affective outcomes of postsecondary educational experiences.
