Preparing for What? Employment and Community Participation - A Webinar Archive
Part of the 2012-2013 Think College webinar series that featured presentations from chapter authors of the book Think College edited by Meg Grigal and Debra Hart. This webinar discusses factors related to job outcomes for students with ID who are attending PSE programs and present a case study of a program in CT that addressed these issues and improved their employment outcomes as a result. In addition, strategies for developing meaningful work and community-based participation during PSE experiences that lead to long-term careers and active community life will be shared. And finally, how do we make sure that once students leave the educational system – hopefully with good paid jobs – they continue to receive the supports necessary to maintain their success? A discussion of how to partner with and access post-school services and resources will offer strategies for helping these young adults remain active, working community citizens.
