Think College Transition Project

Think College Transition Model: Developing Inclusive College-Based Transition Services for Students with Intellectual Disability and Autism

Project description

Think College Transition (TCT) project is working with three Massachusetts Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment partnerships that support students with intellectual disability who are between 18 and 22 years old, are eligible for transition services, and are taking college courses and working as part of those transition services.

The focus of this project is to refine and implement this transition model, and to evaluate the impact of participation on students’ self-determination, job-seeking skills, career readiness, college self-efficacy, and employment outcomes. Evaluation activities include tracking students with survey questionnaires at the beginning and end of their academic semesters, as well as follow-up surveys with students who continue with college.

Qualitative research includes a digital mapping and digital storytelling project with students from two of the colleges. An innovative collaborative inquiry process and action research activities are being used to enhance professional development with the wide range of dual-enrollment staff.
