Accreditation Standards: Report to Congress

Model accreditation standards for higher education programs for students with intellectual disability were developed by a workgroup convened in early 2011 by the National Coordinating Center. The Higher Education Opportunity Act (2008) required the NCC to establish this workgroup to develop the model standards and identify key components of these programs. The Workgroup developed draft standards, obtained significant public input, revised the model standards and reported to Congress and the Secretary of Education in December 2016.
