Meg Grigal, the co-principal investigator of Think College, was the guest on a recent episode of Tuesdays with Liz.
This web series is hosted by Liz Weintraub, a longtime disability advocate. The show looks at policy issues affecting people with disabilities.
In the interview, Weintraub and Grigal talk about how federal legislation has opened up college to a wider range of students, including those with intellectual disability. They also chat about support options for students, and the ways in which accessing college can increase self-esteem.
“Now we have data on over 2,245 students...who’ve taken courses, they’ve taken over 20,000 courses,” Grigal says in the interview. “10,000 of those courses were in typical college courses included with peers with other disabilities or without disabilities. So it’s really empowering to be able to share those students’ stories.”
