Getting the Gang Back Together Again!

The Think College team gathered in person in April 2022, at our home offices at the Institute for Community Inclusion at UMass Boston, after over two years of working exclusively over Zoom. While the team is distributed around the country and many work remotely all the time, we typically get together in person once or twice a year, so it was just an amazing experience to be able to sit around a table and work together again.

While some of our team members have worked together for over a decade, we had some newer team members attend who had never met in person. For instance, this was the first in-person meeting for the staff of the US Department of Education grant we received last October: the Think College Inclusive Higher Education Network.

Through both whole group and project specific meetings, we discussed plans for the remainder of 2022 and beyond related to all of our projects’ activities. We also spent some of our time together getting to know each other better. For instance, we brought back the kindergarten favorite “show and tell” to give folks a chance to share their skills and hobbies, and we all learned a lot. And you know if we were in Boston we had to go to the North End for some authentic Italian food!

We left energized, renewed, and excited about what we will accomplish together as we continue our work to increase postsecondary education options for students with intellectual disability.
