Our Spring 2019 Webinar series is Top Notch

We are really excited about the webinar line-up for this Spring! The presenters come from around the country, with extensive background and strong commitment in supporting people with a range of abilities through transition, college, and employment.

Two webinars address topics related to transition. Jill Curry, a transition coordinator from MA, will share brilliant strategies for incorporating everyday tasks and activities into IEP goals for students preparing to transition to college. In April, Maria Paiewonsky and Ty Hanson of Think College will share findings from the four-year Think College Transition project about proven ways to create and support college-based transition services for students with intellectual disability (ID).

Staff and faculty from 4 universities will be sharing their expertise on a range of topics:

  • creating inclusive academic coursework for students with ID (University of Kansas);
  • assessing campus security & risk factors of students in inclusive higher education programs, and coming up with strategies to ensure the safety of all students (Lipscomb University);
  • building truly inclusive campus communities for all students, starting in the classroom and working throughout the college or university (Millersville University); and
  • establishing successful, inclusive campus housing for students with ID (University of Missouri-St. Louis).

Additionally, we are pleased to have Russ Thelin, our “VR guy,” address the most common concerns and questions related to vocational rehabilitation, and Lara Enein-Donavan from ICI, will share strategies for people with disabilities to tap into their personal networks to find and secure meaningful employment.
