We have been busy these last few months! There are two new Think College Publication types: Student Spotlights and Webinar Takeaways. Student Spotlights are interviews with current or former college students with ID and Webinar Takeaways are a quick summary of an NCC webinar with the most important points to remember. Also included is a link to the recording and related materials.

 

Our Research & Evaluation Team reviewed and compiled data from the Cohort 5 (2019-2020) TPSIDs and created several new publications, including the Annual Report of the Cohort 2 TPSID Model Demonstration Projects (Year 5, 2019–2020) and the Executive Summary. [Additional publications highlighting longitudinal data as well as trends from individual cohorts will also be available.]

 

The National Coordinating Center Accreditation Workgroup issued the 2nd Report to Congress on Model Accreditation Standards. This comprehensive report includes an introduction to inclusive postsecondary education, a listing of the model accreditation standards, background on their development, and suggestions for how inclusive postsecondary education programs can use these standards. There are 2 related publications, as well: an Executive Summary of the full report and the model accreditation standards with guidance and review requirements.

 

Wait, there’s more! For those interested in research, our team just published several Journal articles. An article Journal of Inclusive Postsecondary Education on faculty perspectives on teaching student with ID in inclusive college courses; read it now.  Staff also authored article appearing in the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) journal, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The article, College-Based Transition Services' Impact on Self-Determination for Youth with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, is about employment outcomes for youth. And yet another was was published in the Journal of Rehabilitation. This article, Case Studies of Effective Partnerships between Institutions of Higher Education Enrolling Students with Intellectual Disability and/or Autism and Vocational Rehabilitation Agencies, reports vocational rehabilitation and youth in transition. And, if you’ve wondered how state Councils on Developmental Disabilities can support inclusive postsecondary education, you can read our new brief which reports results from 34 state DD Councils on various ways they are doing this work right now.
