The Think College National Coordinating Center is excited to welcome Sheila Johnson to the Knowledge Translation team! Sheila comes to us from, well, the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI). Sheila spent the past 9 years at the ICI communicating the message that adults with intellectual disabilities can and should participate in community integrated employment. As project coordinator with the State Employment Leadership Network (SELN) at the ICI, she managed an online community, organized webinar series on special topics related to employment, developed e-learning courses, and created and edited numerous resources.

Prior to joining the ICI, Sheila was the director of outreach and communications for the Women’s Center of Rhode Island where she managed youth violence prevention programs and awareness campaigns targeting teens, parents and families, and educators. Sheila views her new position as an opportunity to once again use her skills, knowledge, and talents to promote wellness and success for youth.

Sheila earned a M.A. in gender/cultural studies from Simmons College and a B.A. in writing and rhetoric from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Her favorite quote is “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are,” by e. e. cummings.

Please join us in welcoming Sheila, and be on the lookout for exciting new products and dissemination efforts as she works with Rebecca Lazo on publications, social media and email campaigns, webinars, and more.
