We are pleased to introduce Irina Cain, transition manager, to the Think College team! Irina will be working with Maria Paiewonsky and others to provide guidance and support to secondary educators and transition specialists, as well as postsecondary staff and faculty, as they work with students with disabilities.

Irina Cain graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, with a doctorate in Special Education and Disability Policy and did postdoctoral work at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University. Her work focuses on identifying services and practices associated with postsecondary quality of life, with a focus on: community living, inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of life, educational factors associated with improved transition to adulthood, involving families of people with disabilities in transition planning, equal access to services including the intersectionality of ethnicity, socioeconomic factors, and disability, and translating research findings to inform policy. Prior to her doctoral studies, Irina was a special education teacher in grades 2-12. Irina is very excited to support ongoing projects and work with everyone at ICI. 

Irina spends her free time with her husband and daughter, visiting the many parks and museums in the Boston area. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and immersing herself in different cultures. Irina is passionate about environmental protection and living a low-impact lifestyle.
